My Friend,
I am always with you! When true friendship binds two individuals together, that bond can never be broken. For in times of confusion, I will be there to listen to you. In times of sadness, I will be there to console you. In times of anger, I will be there to talk with you. Even when miles separate us, my friend, when you are confused, when you are sad, when you are angry, search your heart, and I will be there. I am and always will be your friend.

A doting daughter from Spokane, Washington, Ms Dodd is recognized as the Founder or Mother of the Father's Day Festival.
Inception of the Father's Day took place in Sonora's mind when she happened to hear a Mother's Day sermon in 1909. Sonora, who was 27 then, had begun to recognize the hardships her father must have gone through while bringing up his six children alone.
When Sonora was 16, her mother had died during child birth. Sonora's father a Civil War veteran by the name of William Jackson Smart raised six children including the new born on his own. Sonora questioned that if there is a day to recognize mothers then why is not there a day to honor fathers?
To pay tribute to her affectionate father, Sonora wished that Father's Day be celebrated.
President Calvin Coolidge too supported the idea but it was President Lyndon Johnson who signed a Presidential Proclamation declaring the third Sunday of June as Father's Day in 1966.
Fathers are the biggest source of strength for a child. The innocent eyes of a child perceive father as the all-powerful, most knowledge, truly affectionate and the most important person in the family.
For daughters, fathers are the first men they adore and fall in love with. While for sons their fathers are the strongest person they know and someone they aspire to emulate.
Even for the grown ups fathers are someone whom they look up to for the most experienced and honest advice that is always in the best of our interest. For this great figure in our life that we know as father - it becomes our utmost duty to pay our humblest tribute on the occasion of Father's Day. Say Thanks to Dad on Father's Day
Children blessed with a loving father should consider themselves fortunate. For, they have someone to take care of their needs and interests.
Someone to stop them when they are diverting to a wrong path and guide them on a road of success and virtue.
Fathers would never ever give a smallest of hint to let us know how hard they work to take care of our needs and fulfill even the most whimsical of demands... For all their adorable scolding and affectionate punishments we all owe a big thanks to our Dads.
Apologize to Dad on Father's Day
Father's Day also brings with it the wonderful opportunity to apologize for all our rude and insensitive behavior. We as children often take the love and affection of our parents for granted and treat them with outright contempt.
We need to apologize. We must feel great to have the presence of loving father in our lives and do not disrespect the blessing of God on us. On Father's Day we must say “Sorry” to our Dad and seek their forgiveness for our wrong behavior.
Celebrate Father's Day with Dad We must make all efforts to celebrate Father's Day with our Dad. Children staying away from father must especially strive to spend the day with father and show gratitude for all their support and love. We must pamper father by spending the day in a manner he likes most.
It could be going out for a picnic or indulging him with a gourmet meal. We can also express love with thoughtful gifts accompanied by a bouquet of his favorite flowers. The idea is to show our affection and tell Daddy how much he is loved and appreciated not just on Father's Day but every single day of our lives.
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY

When the mercury shoots up it is time we look for ways to keep our body cool and find ways to enjoy this summer. We face many various health problems like prickly heat, dehydration, acne and water borne diseases. Yes, you can keep your body cool this summer and enjoy too.
The first thing that is most important is to keep our body well hydrated. This help in making us feel cool and healthy too. It is essential to drink about 8 to 10 glasses of water in a day. Drinking of tender coconut water, juices and buttermilk also helps to keep one cool and enjoy even the real hot season.
Besides drinking lime water with a pinch of salt and sugar. Keeping oneself well hydrated is very important for those who go out in the sun or have to do a lot of physical work.
It is best to avoid heavy foods and also those foods that are fried. Besides it is good to eat fruits like mango, muskmelon and watermelon. Besides it is good to have a lot of yogurt and vegetables like bottle gourd, ridge gourd, ash gourd and cucumber.
Exercise is also very important during the summer season. Swimming is one ideal exercise that makes one feel cool and also enjoy during the summer.
It is also necessary one use a sun screen too before taking a plunge in the pool. If one is prone to infections like urinary tract infection, skin infections and eye infections one should consult ones physician before making a plunge into the pool.
Besides one should make sure one uses a suntan cream and proper goggles to protect ones skin and eyes before going out.
STEPS
1. Wet your wrists and other pulse points with cold water. Use a piece of ice wrapped in a face cloth, to continue after the coolness wears off. Constantly cooling off the wrists will also cool off the body. Never use just ice; make sure it is wrapped in a towel or something similar. Studies show that this will reduce your core body temperature by as much as 3 °F (1.5 ºC). The relief is almost immediate, and will last for up to one hour!
2. Use perspiration to cool the body down. Water vapor produced by sweating (avoid sweating too much) actually takes heat away from your body if it is exposed to air and allowed to evaporate. The best thing to do is to put your sweaty self in the path of a cool breeze or fan.
3. Wear a short sleeved shirt and put water on the sleeves. Put water on your legs, the water will cool your legs.
4. Drink water, even if you are not thirsty! You must replace fluids lost in perspiration to prevent dehydration. Oral re-hydration may be accomplished by drinking an electrolyte-balanced beverage.
The electrolytes help to make sure you don't lose vital minerals through sweating. Adding ice will also help cool you off. Avoid lemonade, iced tea, and other sugary drinks (see the Tips below). Ice does not actually help you cool off if it is in water you will drink. Cool water does, but the colder the water the more energy your body spends making it body temperature so that it can use it.
5. Avoid direct sunlight. Stay in a shaded area if possible. Exposure to direct sunlight increases the heat index, so that your body may experience temperatures even higher than the air temperature! If you must go outdoors, go in the morning or evening.
Wear clothes that cover up your body. A wide-brimmed hat is good. Light-weight, loose-fitting cotton clothing should be worn.
6. Go downstairs. Warm air is less dense than cool air so it tends up layered on top of the downward moving cooler air. If you're in a house, for example, get lower than the roof. Make your way to the basement or lower level. It will be cooler there. Position a fan in an upstairs window to draw off heat collected in upper rooms--set it up so that it sucks air from indoors and pushes it outdoors.
7. Keep the air flowing. Turn on the ceiling fan or box fan in the room. Do not make a fan out of paper and use it to wave air past your face and neck. Contrary to popular belief, the activity created by waving actually burns calories and raises your core temperature.
8. Prepare your home against the heat. In the evening, open windows and use fans to create a cross-breeze, circulating cooler evening/night air through the rooms.
Leaving kitchen cabinets open all night helps too; if you leave them closed, they store the heat and your house won't cool off as much.
9. Turn off the stove or other sources of heat. Incandescent light bulbs also create heat. Turn off your lamps, as well as your computer.
10. Get wet! Take a cool shower or bath. Wet your hair. Fill a basin with water and sit with your feet in it. Go swimming in a pool. Use a wet cloth to keep your skin cool. Put a wet bandanna around your neck. Fill a spray bottle or squirt gun with water and spritz yourself.
Run cool or cold tap water on the inside of your wrists. The water will cool down the blood flowing through your veins and arteries.
11. Run cold tap water over your wrists, right where you see the vein.
12. Go to a pool and just relax in water. This will cool you down instantly.
13. Eat less. Smaller meals with less protein will reduce metabolic heat. Whatever you do eat should be cool and not require heat to be prepared (e.g. salads, sandwiches, etc.)
14. Try a few minty products to cool your skin: slather on lotion with peppermint (avoid your face and eyes); shower with peppermint soap; use a minty foot soak. Mint refreshes the skin and leaves a nice cooling sensation.
15. Place wet towel on the back of your neck and also the top of one's head. Athletic team doctors have used this for years!
16. Take a glass and fill it almost to the brim with ice cubes. Then hold it up to your mouth and blow gently into the cup. The ice causes the air you are blowing into the cup to cool down drastically, and since the air only has one way out of the cup (the hole which should now be aiming right at your face) the cold air is forced out over your skin. This is a great alternative to air conditioning and is very simple.
17. Try the yoga practice of shitali pranayama. Sit down cross legged and take a few deep breaths, inhaling and exhaling slowly. Roll your tongue into a tube with the tip outside the mouth. Continuing slow deep breath, breath in through the tube and then move your chin to your chest as you breath out through your nose. Do that 5-10 times and you should start to feel cooler. Dogs often use their tongues to cool themselves, perhaps this yoga practice comes from noticing that.
18. Take off your shoes or hat while indoors! Much of the body's heat is released through the soles of the feet, the palms of the hands, and the scalp. Keeping these areas cool makes a surprising difference.
19. Go barefooted. Going barefooted will make your body cooler.Oh yes and drink a bottle of cold water.
God Bless you'll. Keep Your Body Cool and Enjoy Good Health.

-Translated from a discourse given by Sant Shri Asaramji Bapu
Once there was a king who was very fond of flowers. He had bought a lot of expensive pots with beautiful and fragrant flowers. He had them arranged in the courtyard just next to his bedroom and hired a person to take proper care of them.
Once that fellow broke one pot by mistake while arranging them. The king became furious to hear about this. He was a cruel and senseless king. He sentenced his servant to death for this pity mistake. He was ordered to be hanged after two months. The king's minister pleaded mercy for the poor fellow but he did not listen. To find death inevitable, the poor servant started praying to God.
Meanwhile the king declared a reward for anyone who could repair the broken pot and make it exactly same as it used to be. Many people came and tried their luck but in vain.
How could a broken pot be repaired exactly like before? How could any doctor bring back life to a dead person? This mortal human body also is irreparable. Even if a surgeon tries his best to put back the broken parts, it can never be the same, there is always some imperfection remaining. Similarly a kite when torn apart can never be made to look like before even if one applies all kind of glues. How could anyone ever do this? The servant on the other hand was counting his days. He would every now and then pray to God to somehow make king's mind change so that his life is spared.
A month passed by like this. Then a saint visited that city. He heard about this reward which the king had declared for anyone who could repair the broken flower pot. He also learnt about the death sentence given to the poor servant who broke it.
That saintly person went to the king's court and said "I take the responsibility of joining back your broken pot. Show it to me" The king took the saint to his palace where all the flower pots were kept. The saint looked deeply at the broken pot. He also looked at all the other two dozen unbroken pots.
He passed a divine smile towards the king. Then he asked for a stick. The servant brought him one. As soon as he got it, he started breaking all other flower pots. For sometime, the king totally confused at this scene kept wondering what is this way of repairing. May be this saintly person knows some new method. Then he looked at the saint who was standing fearlessly after having broken all the pots. He yelled "O saint! what have you done?"
The saint replied "I saved the life of two dozen poor people who at some point in time would have broken these pots." The king became furious and ordered that the saint be trampled under the feet of an elephant.
The saint was a spiritually enlightened person. He had deeply experienced the teachings of the Vedas. He believed firmly in the universality of the soul and its oneness with GOD. He knew that the physical body is bound to be destroyed someday while the inner soul can never ever die. He'd never get frightened by even the worst of the worst situations since he was beyond death and birth.
An elephant was brought in front of him. The saint peacefully lied down on the ground and meditating on "So..hum.. Shivo..hum" (I am That.. I am Shiva ..The supreme lord) "Supreme Lord is prevalent all around. The elephant is also the supreme lord and so is its master. The king who ordered this execution is also the supreme lord and the one lying down on the ground is also the same supreme lord."
"The lord itself is playing with its own various forms. So..hum" "The minister standing in the corner is also the dear lord and the soldier holding a sword in the hand is also the same lord. The whole public watching this is also the supreme lord having taken various forms from tiny kids to veiled women."
The blissful saint continued meditating like this visualizing the presence of supreme lord in every body around him. The master of the elephant whipped it hard but the elephant simply refused to go near the saint. Another elephant was brought in. But he also stopped within two feet of the meditating saint. His master also tried hard but in vain. The king finally gave up and asked the saint
"Do you know any kind of mantra which brings every elephant under your control?" The saint smiled and said " I do not know any mantra to control an elephant but I do know the mantra to control the self. I know the mantra of love"

Happy Diwali

The word "Dhan" means wealth. As such this day of the five-day diwali festival has a great importance for the rich mercantile community of western India. Houses and business premises are renovated and decorated. Entrances are made colorful with lovely traditional motifs of rangoli designs to welcome the goddess of wealth and prosperity. To indicate her long-awaited arrival, small footprints are drawn with rice flour and vermilion powder all over the houses.
Lamps are kept burning all through the nights. On this auspicious day women purchase some gold or silver or at least one or two new utensils. Pooja is performed in the evenings when tiny diyas of clay are lighted to drive away the shadows of evil spirits. "Bhajans"-devotional songs- are sung in praise of Goddess Lakshmi.
Dhanteras is also known as Dhantrayodashi, and takes place two days before Diwali, in honour of Dhanavantri, the physician of the gods and an incarnation of Vishnu.
The legend of Samudramanthan is at the heart of these celebrations. Lord Indra was cursed by sage Durvasa that The pride of wealth has entered his head and let Lakshmi leave him." On account of Durvasa's curse, Lakshmi left Indra and went away. As Lakshmi is the goddess of power, bravery, enthusiasm and radiance left, Devendra's life became miserable. The demons that were waiting for such an opportunity invaded heaven, defeated Indra. He lost his kingdom and hid out of the sight of the demons.
A number of years passed. Indra's teacher Brihaspati thought of finding a way out for Indra's troubles. He went with the gods to Brahma, who went to Vishnu, A way was found out of it. The sea of milk was to be churned. It was a very difficult job. Therefore the friendship of the demons and get their assistance was required. Mandara Mountain was a churning rod and Vasuki, the king of the serpents, as a rope.
WWhen the sea will be churned ambrosia will be produced. The gods must drink it and become immortal. It will then be possible for gods to defeat the demons. When the sea is churned, Lakshmi who has disappeared will appear again. Her grace will be bestowed. The clever Brihaspati managed to strike a friendship with the demons who agreed in the hope of getting ambrosia and wealth. After initial difficulties posed by the sinking of mount Mandara into the milky sea which was set right by Lord Vishnu who took the form of a tortoise and hoisted it on his back, the churning started.
First, Kalakuta, a dreadful poison was produced which Lord Shiva drank much to the relief of the gods and demons. Due to Vishnu's continued encouragement, gods and demons continued churning the sea. Then a horse by name Uchaishravas, Kalpavriksha had the power to grant what is wished, and Kamdhenu and other celestial articles took shape. When the sea continued to be churned the Apsara were born.
After that in the midst of the waves of the sea of milk, a goddess with heavenly looks came into view. She was standing on a fully blossomed lotus. Wearing a lotus garland in the neck, she was holding a lotus in her hand. She was attractive and was radiantly smiling, she was Lakshmi.
The sages began reciting hymns in praise of her. Gandharvas sang. Apsaras danced. The elephants on either side sprinkled sacred holy Ganga water on the goddess and bathed her. Because the elephants sprinkled holy water on her, she acquired the name of Gajalakshmi. Because she was born in the sea of milk, she was called Samudratanya. The king of the sea appeared in his natural form and comforted Lakshmi as a daughter. He presented her with attractive clothes and jewels. He handed to her a garland of lotus flowers. While everybody was looking in surprise, Lakshmi put the garland around the neck of Vishnu. Then she looked at Indra kindly, he acquired an extraordinary radiance.
The gods and demons continued to churn the ocean for Amrut or nectar, Finally Dhanavantri emerged carrying a jar of the elixir (ambrosia). Both the asuras and the devas wanted the ambrosia, but finally Vishnu managed to give the immortal nectar to the gods and the asuras where defeated. Thus the churning of the ocean resulted in the immortality of the devas and was the reason for Lakshmi's emergence.
Another interesting story about this day is of the sixteen year old son of King Hima. As per his horoscope he was doomed to die by a snake-bite on the fourth day of his marriage. On that particular fourth day of his marriage his young wife did not allow him to sleep. She laid all the ornaments and lots of gold and silver coins in a big heap at the entrance of her husbands boudoir and lighted innumerable lamps all over the place. And she went on telling stories and singing songs. When Yam, the god of death arrived there in the guise of a serpent his eyes got blinded by that dazzle of those brilliant lights and he could not enter the princes chamber. So he climbed on top of the heap of the ornaments and coins and sat there whole night listening to the melodious songs. In the morning he quietly went away.
Thus the young wife saved her husband from the clutches of death. Since then this day of Dhanteras came to be known as the day of "YAMADEEPDAAN" and lamps are kept burning throughout the night in reverential adoration to Yam, the god of death.

A thankful heart

 A thankful heart
When you feel the impulse to be judgmental, let that be a cue for you to first be thankful. When you discover that you're focusing on what's wrong, use that as a reminder of all the many things that are right.
Immediately upon waking each morning, think of ten things you are grateful for at the moment. As you fall asleep at the end of the day, fill your thoughts with thankfulness for the good and valuable blessings in your life.
Give the power of your thoughts to the positive influences in your world, and they will become more influential. Remind yourself often of what works well, and you'll naturally find ways to make many other things work well.
The way to enjoy success is not to study failure. The way to experience success is to extend and expand the success you already know.
Gratitude is so powerful because it makes you so powerful. Gratitude puts you in a positive frame of reference within which many more positive things can happen.
Begin each day, end each day, and live each day with a sincerely thankful heart. And as each day passes, you'll have more and more for which to be thankful.

In the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna calls upon Arjuna to regard himself as an instrument of the Divine. Every human being is indeed an instrument of God. As such, he should carry out his duties, leaving the results to God. Men have to do their duties; success or failure is determined by the Divine. Do not esteem yourself as the doer. Develop the conviction that the Indwelling Spirit in you is directing you and enabling you to act.

One night a snake while it was looking for food, entered a carpenters workshop.
The carpenter, who was a rather untidy man, had left, his tools lying on the floor. One of them was a saw. As the snake went around the shop, he climbed over the saw, which gave him a little cut.
At once, thinking that the saw was attacking him, he turned around and bit it so hard that his mouth started to bleed.
This made him very angry. He attacked again and again until the saw was covered with blood and seemed to be dead.
Dying from his own wounds, the snake decided to give one last hard bite then turned away. The next morning the carpenter was surprised to find a dead snake on his doorstep.
Lesson to Learn: Sometimes in trying to hurt others, we only hurt ourselves.

There are some events that you can influence by making intelligent choices and by taking decisive action.
There are other events and situations that are completely out of your control.
You have what it takes to successfully deal with both. There's no need to worry endlessly about what the future will bring, for it always brings you new opportunities to make a positive difference.
You can do your very best with those situations that are under your control. And you can adapt and adjust to those situations over which you have little or no influence.
The foolish actions of others can leave you hopelessly frustrated if you allow them to do so. Keep in mind, however, that there's nothing to be gained by working yourself into a knot of frustration and resentment.
Instead, accept whatever comes your way and commit yourself to finding the value in it and making the best of it. With a positive, generous sense of purpose, there's no limit to what you can achieve, even when conditions are less than ideal.
Greet each new day and each new turn of events with confidence and enthusiasm. And you'll emerge a winner no matter what.
