THE WOMAN IN YOUR LIFE Jan 11, 2008 5:25 am
1540 Views
A young friend who is also an excellent human being sent me this - please read it and say what you wish to; I am sure there will be a lot said because all that is written in here is so true.

The woman in your life...very well expressed...

Tomorrow you may get a working woman, but you should marry with these facts
as well.

Here is a girl, who is as much educated as you are;

Who is earning almost as much as you do;

One, who has dreams and aspirations just as you have because she is as
human as you are;

One, who has never entered the kitchen in her life just like you or your
Sister haven't, as she was busy in studies and competing in a system that
gives no special concession to girls for their culinary achievements

One, who has lived and loved her parents & brothers & sisters, almost as
much as you do for 20-25 years of her life;

One, who has bravely agreed to leave behind all that, her home, people who
love her, to adopt your home, your family, your ways and even your family
,name

One, who is somehow expected to be a master-chef from day #1, while you
sleep oblivious to her predicament in her new circumstances, environment
and that kitchen

One, who is expected to make the tea, first thing in the morning and cook
food at the end of the day, even if she is as tired as you are, maybe more,
and yet never ever expected to complain; to be a servant, a cook, a mother,
a wife, even if she doesn't want to; and is learning just like you are as
to what you want from her; and is clumsy and sloppy at times and knows that
you won't like it if she is too demanding, or if she learns faster than
you;

One, who has her own set of friends, and that includes boys and even men at
her workplace too, those, who she knows from school days and yet is willing
to put all that on the back-burners to avoid your irrational jealousy,
unnecessary competition and your inherent insecurities;

Yes, she can drink and dance just as well as you can, but won't, simply
because you won't like it, even though you say otherwise

One, who can be late from work once in a while when deadlines, just like
yours, are to be met;

One, who is doing her level best and wants to make this most important
relationship in her entire life a grand success, if you just help her some
and trust her;

One, who just wants one thing from you, as you are the only one she knows
in your entire house - your unstinted support, your sensitivities and most
importantly - your understanding, or love, if you may call it.

But not many guys understand this......

Please appreciate "HER"

Best wishes to everyone for a great 2008 and LOHRI on 13 January.

GRAM'S LEGACY Dec 25, 2007 5:01 am

A story that I received from a friend :

Gram Kelly was the model grandmother. She doted on her many grandchildren as though we were her sole purpose for rising in the morning. Gram made us feel so special!

She was preoccupied with leaving something behind, though. Gram worried about being able to pay for her funeral as well as leaving an inheritance for "the children" who had long since grown into adulthood! When Gram died, some of her grandchildren gathered to remember her. Armed with our memories, I had the honor of delivering the eulogy. I relayed our love for Gram's undivided attention, her special recipes, and the way she reveled in the simple pleasures of life.

I think we all shed a few tears when we realized how great Gram's legacy truly is. When I spend time with the newest generation of Gram's family, I marvel at all she has left behind. A close family, devotion to God, and an appreciation for life's simplicities that are too often lost in our busy days. When our family gathers together, when I remember to appreciate the rain, when I think about the many gifts in my life, I thank Gram for making me aware that life's rewards are far greater than success and money. Gram worried about what she would leave us...I think the best legacy is that she hasn't left us at all.

Best wishes to all - I AM SURE YOU ARE HAVING A GREAT CHRISTMAS AND SHALL HAVE A GREAT 2008.

A DEEP QUESTION TO MYSELF Dec 20, 2007 5:42 am
1029 Views
If I am not to my self - who is? And when I am for my self - what am I? And if not now, then when?

Meaning:

If a person does not have his/her own self - or in other words the self he/she has is a false one (resulting in not being tuned to his/her true needs and feelings) - what kind of role does he/she is having in this world?

This phrase emphasizes our responsibility over finding our self, our true and deep inner self, the one that is uniquely and solely ours. We always have the option to choose - things that are either true or false to us - and our fate is the consequence of the choices we make. One must realize there is no in-between phase in spiritual growth en-route being your self - you either go downhill or uphill!

Once we are tuned to our true self our choices will become apparent and would take us the right way (this is a process, though...).

Most important, we must do the work now, this minute. If this moment seems inappropriate it is only because we are afraid of the difficulties to come. Our line of reasoning is deriving from our old school of thoughts but once we realize it we can embark on the road towards the true and better self we aspire to be.

This is a forward from a friend who has chosen to remain anonymous.

Best wishes to all,

WEAPONS OF MATHS INSTRUCTION Dec 17, 2007 6:26 pm

At New York's Kennedy airport today, an individual later discovered to be a public school teacher, was arrested trying to board a flight while in possession of a ruler, a protractor, a setsquare, a slide rule, and a calculator.

At a morning press conference, Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez said he believes the man is a member of the notorious Al-gebra movement. The FBI is charging him with carrying weapons of math instruction.

Al-gebra is a fearsome cult," Gonzalez said. "They desire average solutions by means and extremes, and sometimes go off on tangents in a search of absolute value. They use secret code names like 'x' and 'y' and refer to themselves as 'unknowns', but we have determined they belong to a common denominator of the axis of medieval with coordinates in every country. As the Greek philanderer Isosceles used to say, 'there are 3 sides to every triangle."

When asked to comment on the arrest, President Bush said, "If God had wanted us to have better weapons of math instruction, He would have given
us more fingers and toes.

This is from my old school teacher (age 84) who claims to have read this on google. I won't be surprised if he made this up himself.

FROG'S COMPLAINT AGAINST THE SUN - SCORCHER's BLOG Dec 17, 2007 6:08 pm

I received this from my BiL, (Konanthekiller used to be his IFF id - he is married to my sister from the IFF, SRC1902), many thanks to him for sharing and to all of you who read it.

Once upon a time, when the Sun announced his intention to take a wife, the Frogs lifted up their voices in clamour to the sky.
Jupiter, disturbed by the noise of their croaking, inquired the cause of their complaint.

One of them said, "The Sun, now while he is single, parches up the marsh, and compels us to die miserably in our arid homes. What will be our future condition if he should beget other suns?'

Shine on, Scorcher - frogs will croak but the sun has not lost its heat which gives us all warmth !!!!

This can also be traced to Aesop's fable - I go on to connect this to Scorcher's blog on ABUSE and Kareena's blog REAL FACTS.

My best wishes to all and may sense and sanity be the IFF hallmark.

Have a beautiful week ahead as we head towards Christmas and 2008.

Best regards,

Govind

JUGGLING OUR LIVES Dec 8, 2007 5:57 pm
849 Views
Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling some five balls in the air. You name them - work, family, health, friends and spirit, and you're keeping all of these in the air.

You will soon understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back.

But the other four balls: family, health, friends and spirit are made of glass.

If you drop one of these, they will be irrevocably scuffed, marked, nicked, damaged or even shattered. They will never be the same.

You must understand that and strive for balance in your life.

How?

Don't undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others. It is because we're different that each of us is special.

Don't set your goals too high by what other people deem important. Only you know what is best for you.

Don't take for granted things closest to your heart. Cling to them as you would life, for without them, life is meaningless.

Don't let your life slip through your fingers by living in the past or for the future. By living life only one day at a time, you live ALL the days of your life.

Don't give up when you have something to give. Nothing is really over until the moment you stop trying.

Don't be afraid to admit that you are less than perfect. It is this fragile thread that binds us and hold us together.

Don't be afraid to encounter risks. It is by taking chances that we learn to be brave.

Don't shut love out of your life by saying it's impossible to find. The quickest way to receive love is to give; the fastest way to lose love is to hold it too tightly; and the best way to keep love is to give it wings.

Don't run through life so fast that you forget not only where you've been, but also where you are going.

Don't forget that a person's greatest emotional need is to feel appreciated.

Don't be afraid to learn. Knowledge is weightless, a treasure you can always carry easily.

Don't use time or words carelessly. Neither can be retrieved.

Life is not a race, but a journey to be savored each step of the way.

~"Five Balls of Life" by Brian G. Dyson~

This was in a spam mail that I chanced not to discard and lucky that I did not. I am sharing it with all my friends at IFF.

Best wishes to all - have a great Sunday.
