WE...THE EXPERTS..!!

Everybody seems to think that it was Mandira Bedi's noodle straps that got Indian woman watching cricket ..and the few men who did not-- did so after seeing her straps...i totally disagree...For me most Indian women who have a son /sons and a TV at home..became cricket fans and connoisiers of the game long before the noodle straps nearly became undone!!..

Now just as there is something called as "passive smoking" i think there is something called "passive sports "..i mean, in a house with a husband and 2 sons unable to comprehend that there are other channels apart from the sports channel...how in hell can the Indian woman miss seeing all that cricket on tv and not learn..!!..

In fact i would bet anyone that Indian women would know exactly who the WWF,LATER WWE(BTW in my time..wwf, it was always A COMPETITION between the UNDERTAKER , HITMAN AND SHAUN MICHEALS!!) ..Champions are...whether in the tag team contest or the one to one ones!!..And yes any Indian women would tell you who Beckam or Ronaldinho, or Ronaldo, are and which country they play for..or which club...who they having an affair with..and what their latest hair style is...She could argue with you whether the Bangalore Fliers are better than the Maratha Warriors and what exactly happened in the match where players of both the teams bashed each other up!!..(Indian premier hockey league for all you morons who don't know what i'm taliking about)....And give us time honey , we Indian women will become experts at golf , skiiing, cycling, chess, polo, kabaddi etc etc etc...in short any game the sports channel broadcast !!..

Of course , at the same time i must say...i find it the best excuse to not go into the kitchen and cook....arre..itna important match/game aa raha hai....take away/home delivery please..!! Aaj khaana banane ki chuttiiiiiiiiiii...

HOUSEWIFE OR HOMEMAKER..!! Jun 15, 2006 4:56 am

HOUSEWIFE OR HOMEMAKER ?

Ever since i was told in my counselling class that i should no longer call myself a "housewife" but a "home-maker"..my mind seems to have gone into a jumbling spin....and everytime anyone asks me what i do, i am caught with a look on my face like a cross between a Giraffe and a Zebra !!housewife or homemaker ? uh oh ummm hmmm hh oouu mmee !!!!!!!!!

I mean let me work this out with you ---

Does my " butter chicken" become more tasty coz it's made by a ' home-maker' ?

Does calling myself a 'home maker ' now mean that for the past 25 years i have been living in self denial ?

Does it means that as a' housewife' i have achieved less than what i would have if i had called myself a ' homemaker'?

Does being a 'home maker' mean its alright and 'oh so great ' of me to be doing the dishes when the maid does not come whereas while doing it as a housewife it is the 'done ' thing...?

I mean..did i not deliver and bring up my kids, manage the house , look after the guests and in laws, manage the household accounts and yes, look after my husbands needs---physical , mental and emotional . Have i not been a friend, secretary, wife, mother, hostess, teacher, guide, etc etc etc...?So just as people think that calling oneself a 'housewife is too insular a term ..does calling oneself a 'homemaker'make people understand everything i do ?..

So just as a guy running a company is called its"CEO " Shouldn't i call myself -------"Chief Executive Officer" of the Behl Household ?

Hey thats an idea...question: what do you do?

me: I AM THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER OF THE BEHL HOUSEHOLD.!!! ( i bet i would have people standing up to salute me !!)

P.S ..NOW IF ONLY MY HUSBAND WOULD PAY ME A SALARY IN ACCORDANCE TO MY POST..!!!(I DON'T THINK HE CAN COZ I HAVE UPGRADED MYSELF TO AN EVEN MORE SENIOR POSITION THAN HIM...HE IS 'JUST ' A Sr VEEP.!!!

Whats there in a name? A rose by any other name would smell just as sweet.....

MASKS..

I know i'm writing after many days...but hey..it's better late than never..Actually been busy..just had my 25th anniversary and went to Thailand...and no..today's blog is not about Thailand!!!...(some other time maybe..).

I was reading something on the net and the story is about a young boy and girl who meet on a train and during the journey he sees her as this funloving , smiling, good looking, kind and helpful doctor ..and it's love at first sight ..they get talking and by the the next day are actually ready to marry ..when the guy gets down to buy tea at a station and the 3 compartments get blown up with the girl inside...the boy is devastated to lose the wonderful and awesome human he had found....only to read in the papers the next day that the accident was caused by a human suicide bomber named ..Shanti...a terrorist...the same girl he had met and fallen in love with...( this is the gist..so a bit short).

Its funny isn't it how many times we meet people, get to know them and many times to even love them only to realise later that what we actually saw , liked , loved and wanted was just a mask..A mask we all develop over a period of time to show to others but underneath lies the true nature of an individual..the good , bad and the ugly...and this real person inside each one of us is intricately more fascinating than the figment of even our wildest imagination...

k bye for now....

IMPOSSIBLE !!

They say --"nothing is impossible"--well sometimes for me this saying just does not hold true..So here's a list of some things i find "impossible".

-i would love for someone to give me inspiration , strength, will power , whatever to change the "impossible "to "possible"..hmm..what would i give in return...?

So ,ok here goes---

-driving on bangalore roads...without getting lost.

-drinking milk without screwing up my face....even if once a year..

-wearing a bikini..mini skirt..low waist jeans..strapless choli --------in public that is..

-to laugh gently ,softly--if there is a laugh like that..the art eludes me..

-not cry while watching hindi movies..even if its a comedy..

-to get on a treadmill for 365 days of the year(for this a bonus gift for sure !)and workout.

-not to love friends even when they hurt me/lie to me..

-to grow my hair to below my hips and be able to sit on it !!(ever seen anyone with hair like that ?)
-to have an ego like i see the men around me having..geez...and then to cooly deny having one..

-to stop writing now that i have started...these silly nothings...and hope someone does read them..!!!

And yes,,,i did mean it when i said..i would give something in return--just that i have to decide exactly what..any ideas anyone..?

MAIDS!! Jun 10, 2006 11:22 am

maids !!

I think any female on this earth who has ever kept a maid will admit(in her heart if not openly ) that she would rather see her "maid's face first thing in the morning than her husband's or even God's. Females await their arrival with more expectancy than they ever did their first born also.!!..They make our day happier , brighter and more comfortable and stress free --than any lover, boyfriend or husband could..(ITS UNBELIEVABLE BUT TRUE..) I mean --females would rather their husbands leave them than their maids..and yes..they also help me maintain my nails...otherwise my nails always chipped and broken... I think today a girl would /should insist on.."no dowry" but also say.."no maid--no shaadi". Why am i writing all this..well coz my maid after 3 months of getting trained by me suddenly quit ...but today she returned.(i had got the wrong msg !!) it just "maid" me think and so this ... Thank you for reading this..any comments eagerly awaited--lol..i could carry on but thats it for today..

lesson 1

Somehow i have always believed in "destiny" , "fate" , kismat call it what you will and thus believe that whatever happens to us ..happens for a reason..big enough to change our life in ways unimaginable or small enough to bring us just a short moment of pure joy and happiness. And yes, ,i do feel that all people who come into my life are there for a reason...and many times things happen then which seem unfair , painful and horrible ...yet , without them..i would not be whom i am today...

At times i have felt so very loved and at times i have felt betrayed and hurt by the people i trusted..i have been affected by them all .But in both cases i have learnt something..loving someone and being loved in return...i learnt to open my heart and eyes to even little things..i learnt to keep all those precious memories close to my heart..coz i know, i may never experience it again.. As for learning something from being betrayed--they have helped me learn about trust and to be cautious about whom i open my heart to.

k for today thats it..more later..
