TODAY(29/7/07)IS THE 117TH DEATH ANNIVERSARY OF VINCENT VAN GOGH THE RENOWNED PAINTER.

I would like to add some facts about him for those who are interested in knowing about this master

WHO IS HE?

Vincent van Gogh, for whom color was the chief symbol of expression, was born in Groot-Zundert, Holland. The son of a pastor, brought up in a religious and cultured atmosphere, Vincent was highly emotional and lacked self-confidence. Between 1860 and 1880, when he finally decided to become an artist, van Gogh had had two unsuitable and unhappy romances and had worked unsuccessfully as a clerk in a bookstore, an art salesman, and a preacher in the Borinage (a dreary mining district in Belgium), where he was dismissed for overzealousness. He remained in Belgium to study art, determined to give happiness by creating beauty.
Hundreds of physicians and psyciatrists have tried to define Van Gogh's medical conditions over the years. The following are some of the more probable mental and physical diagnoses.

Temporal Lobe Epilepsy

Van Gogh suffered from seizures which doctors, including Dr. Felix Rey and Dr. Peyron, believed to be caused by temporal lobe epilepsy. Van Gogh was born with a brain lesion that many doctors believe was aggravated by his prolonged use of absinthe causing his epileptic condition. Dr. Gachet, another of Van Gogh's physicians, was thought to have treated his epilepsy with digitalis. This prescription drug can cause one to see in yellow or see yellow spots. This may have been one of the reasons why Van Gogh loved this color.

Bipolar disorder

Due to Van Gogh's extreme enthusiasm and dedication to first religion and then art coupled with the feverish pace of his art production many believe that mania was a prominent condition in Van Gogh's life. However, these episodes were always followed by exhaustion and depression and ultimately suicide. Therefore, a diagnosis of bipolar disorder or manic depression makes sense with the accounts of these episodes in Van Gogh's life.


Thujone poisoning

In order to counter act his attacks of epilepsy, anxiety, and depression, Van Gogh drank absinthe, a toxic alcoholic drink popular with many artists at the time. Thujone is the toxin in absinthe. Unfortunately, the Thujone worked against Van Gogh aggravating his epilepsy and manic depression. High doses of thujone can also cause one to see objects in yellow. Various physicians have differing opinions on whether or not this is what caused Van Gogh's affinity with yellow.

Lead poisoning

Because Van Gogh used lead based paints there are some who believe he suffered from lead poisoning from nibbling at paint chips. It was also noted by Dr. Peyron that during his attacks Van Gogh tried to poison himself by swallowing paint or drinking kerosene. One of the symptoms of lead poisoning is swelling of the retinas which can cause one to see light in circles like halos around objects. This can be seen in paintings like The Starry Night.
Hypergraphia
Hypergraphia is a condition causing one to need to write continuously; this disorder is commonly linked to mania and epilepsy. Some believe that the massive collection of over 800 letters Van Gogh wrote during his lifetime could be attributed to this condition.


Sunstroke

Because Van Gogh strived for realism in his paintings he was often painting outdoors especially during his times in the South of France. Some of his episodes of hostility and the nausea and "bad stomach" he refers to in his letters may have been the effects of sunstroke.

...on 27 July 1890, at the age of 37, he walked into the fields in Auvers-sur-Oise near Paris and shot himself in the chest with a revolver.Without realizing that he was fatally wounded, he returned to the Ravoux Inn, where he died in his bed two days later.Vincent's brother Theo hastened to be at his side and reported his last words as "La tristesse durera toujours" (French for " [the] sadness will last forever" ). Vincent was buried at the cemetery of Auvers-sur-Oise.

Today I had the chance to watch the movie "motorcycle diaries'for the third time

w*i*k*i*p*e*d*i*a says:

'The Motorcycle Diaries (Spanish: Diarios de motocicleta) is a 2004 biographical film directed by Brazilian director Walter Salles.
It tells the story of a journey by motorcycle across South America in 1952 by young Ernesto "Fuser" Guevara and his friend Alberto Granado. Guevara later became the famous Marxist revolutionary better known as Che Guevara, and the film depicts the gradual development of his political outlook, but his revolutionary exploits are not mentioned except in a caption at the end.
The film is based on the books Diarios de motocicleta by Guevara.....'etc.

Well, when I was watching this film in Zstudio I had to switch to starmovies on the commercial breaks where they were showing "Mission to mars".

'Motorcycle diaries' have raw visuals with no glamorous lighting, no filters before the lense and no computer graphics whereas the other one had so much of all of them.
I felt "mission to mars' as a mere crap movie with some sugar coating when it's compared to 'Motorcycle diaries' with it's realistic attitudes towards the scripting,visuals and treatment of soundtrack-especially the Latin American country music.
I strongly recommend my friends to watch "Motorcycle diaries" when you get a chance for it.

I will start off and say I have a zero tolerance for Fatism,a disease caused by imborn idiotism.

I think as adults....we should be open for every possible learning experience our short lives gifts us....meeting ppl with different sizes with more than enough fat that's needed for more than four people on a single body can only give us rewards on an easter.

I think that Fatism caused by idiotism is a scapegoat ppl shield themselves with. They hate normal life God has given them and they are taking vengeance on ppl they clearly do not know. Basically giving God and and their co-inhibitants the finger.

Here at IFF there are a few ppl that harass the brainful ppl. Spewing that we do not belong here. Spewing that no matter if they use imaginary names like ________(o)(o)(which means 'queen' ) in their handles or not considering how many pigs have we met in this life...we will never be as vain as they claim we want to be.

I can speak for ALL of my beautiful friends and say this-There is nothing wrong with being normal....and since when should we feel bad about being normal and not frustrated...God made us after all-humanbeings and made some pigs too
